Bio

Kent Burnside is a dynamic and soulful musical artist, carrying on the rich legacy of Mississippi blues. Born into the renowned Burnside family, with roots deeply embedded in the Hill Country Blues tradition, Kent is a torchbearer of the genre, blending tradition with his own contemporary flair.

Drawing inspiration from his grandfather, the legendary R.L. Burnside, Kent has developed a unique sound that seamlessly fuses the raw,

emotive power of traditional blues with modern influences. His guitar playing is a testament to the deep musical heritage he inherited, and his soulful vocals resonate with authenticity and passion.

Kent got his real start in the music business playing with Jimbo Mathus (Fat Possum Records) and going on tour with Buddy Guy in the early 2000's. That was when he started developing his signature style of blues: dark, hypnotic, inviting and very danceable.

Kent performed for Samuel L. Jackson to help Jackson prepare for his role in the movie Black Snake Moan (2007). He has also worked on The Blues Brothers' stage shows with Dan Aykroyd. Aykroyd is a huge fan and supporter of Kent's work.

Bruce Willis once played harmonica at a jam with Kent Burnside.

Kent's journey in the world of blues began at a young age, watching and learning from his grandfather and the blues greats who frequented the Burnside family home. As he honed his skills, he embarked on his own musical odyssey, performing at iconic blues venues and festivals. His live performances are a testament to his captivating stage presence and the ability to connect with audiences on a profound level.

With a discography that reflects his growth as an artist, Kent Burnside has released albums that capture the essence of Mississippi blues while adding a contemporary edge. His songwriting reflects a keen understanding of the human experience, exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience.

In an era where the blues continue to evolve, Kent Burnside stands out as a torchbearer, preserving the authenticity of the genre while pushing its boundaries. His music is a bridge between the

past and the present, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in the timeless artistry of Mississippi blues through the lens of a modern maestro.
